about

THE WILDFIRES -- ONE (Bio in Deutsch - siehe unten)

The Wildfires, who hail from Tennessee, USA and London, England, first met in Berlin, Germany and have been playing music together since summer 2012.

Their music has been described as "Simon & Garfunkel meets Emmylou Harris round at Dolly Parton's house where Paul Weller's trying to break in.” It’s a mix of Country, Pop and Folk, but not as we know it.

The Wildfires believe in getting to the heart of the matter, and it’s their perfect, heartfelt harmonies that can really cut and twist the listener, blurring the line between pain and pleasure. There's always something exciting, something thrilling in their songs, something which one can put down to their interwoven dual harmony vocals which carry a deep emotional edge, reminiscent of the duets sung by Emmylou Harris and Gram Parsons or Graham Nash and Joni Mitchell back in the 1970's – Paul Bonin and Elizabeth Carlton have come upon a real treasure in their mutual musicianship which they have turned into something touching and true …

With their unique transatlantic blend of voices, The Wildfires have succeeded in creating their own Brit-Americana sound, and they've just finished recording their first album "One", produced by David Young, who has also produced the albums of John Cale, Nico and Element of Crime, amongst many others.

Paul Bonin (London, UK) has been a songwriter for 25 years. He’s worked with some of the top names in the German pop industry, and some well-known English ones too. “I’ve always loved singing harmonies, but this is something very special”, says Paul about his new singing partnership.

Elizabeth Carlton (Tennessee, USA) has been blessed with the beautiful and unique gift of an amazing singing voice and a sensitive feel for a fine and touching lyric. She also possesses a fine collection of summer dresses.

The Wildfires are a first-class singer-songwriter duet who truly deserve to be up there with the greats of their genre. Their new album "One", produced by David Young, bears excellent witness to this fact.

In the tradition of Johnny Cash and June Carter, Gram Parsons and Emmylou Harris, Lee Hazlewood and Nancy Sinatra, Sonny and Cher, and Graham Nash and Joni Mitchell, The Wildfires present their finely worked debut album “One”.

THE WILDFIRES -- ONE

Track Name: Running
RUNNING

Dark are the dreams set in my head
Meet me beyond the watershed

I’ve been running,
I’ve been running
And I don’t think I can stake my life on a good thing

He said I’d spoken out of turn
Beaten and broken, now to burn
I’ve been running,
It’s been coming
But I don’t think I can stake my life on a good thing

I’ll say stop
Then we both say go
Now we’re stuck in the middle
Where no-one knows
For goodness sake, why don’t you make it
Second time around

Dark are the dreams set in my head
Meet me beyond the watershed

I’ve been running,
I’ve been running

And I don’t think I can stake my life on a good thing
And I don’t think I can stake my life - on a good thing
Track Name: Can You Hear Me
Can You Hear Me

There’s nowhere to run
Now you come to find me
The feature’s begun
Showing right behind me

Cos you’re living what you learn, like it’s new and shiny
Just until you start to burn, as you laugh divinely

Oh, can you hear me
Can you now,
Can you now?

All your amateur fun
Some would say could blind you
In your search for the sun
When they come to find you

You’re taking your turn
But it’s not my concern
(Cos I’m so sick and tired)

Oh, can you hear me
Can you now,
Can you now?

Ancient story, never ending
Now it’s time to stop pretending...

Oh, can you hear me
Can you now,
Can you na-na-na-na, na-na-na-na, na,na,na, now?
Track Name: Russian Storm
RUSSIAN STORM

I can’t change you
I can’t change, the place you’re going
Brand new, improved
Gone, by, now, the scent of rust

The summer’s gone and now’s the time,
Remember me
By reason, not design

And now that Russian storm is blowing over me
There’ll be another sign along the way
Let memories define,
The future says,
You know you’ll never win
My heart and not my mind, would disagree

Dreams that come true
My wish, more, than you could ever
Hope, eternal
Why, we two want more than that

Now our summer’s gone and come the time,
Remember me
By reason, not design

Rain down all around me
Cos you and I know just what is true
But I can’t see your thoughts about me
And you don’t know my shades of blue

I can’t blame you
Something strange, is what we’re going through
North by Southwest
Who can tell, or know when you’ll be

Back again and come the time,
Remember me
By reason, not design

And now that Russian storm is blowing over me
You’ll learn to speak your mind along the way
Let memories decide, the role of truth and pride
That one thing on your mind, would disappear...
Track Name: Stranger
STRANGER

Stranger than what you feel
Stranger that what is real
Oh stranger than what you mean to me

Changing as you reveal a
Danger that’s so surreal,
Deranging my mind to the first degree

It’s a strange situation
Roll around
What we’re coming to

It’s a strange situation
Hold the line,
What’s come over you?

Painful as stainless steel
And sharp enough, to not conceal
The way that you’re pretending not to be

You and your angel eyes
Turning the world around, tell me what do
Oh and it’s no surprise
You’ll see what tomorrow brings, now it’s up to you
Now it’s up to you…
Track Name: One and the Same
One & the Same

Those old hand-me-downs
You bought for half-a-crown,
You can throw ‘em away

You’ll, take the long way round
To find what you have found
It’s a part of the game

Then I find out,
Underneath the world is turning
Shine on, brighter than the sun

Any-time now,
Your belief, the fire burning
Shine down, smile on everyone

Cos we’re one and the same

Six feet underground
You wouldn’t make a sound
At the end of the day

Turn round, new to town, there’s
No need to explain
To the sound of the rain

Cos you’ll find out
Far beneath your wild yearning
Step by step, you are the one

And the rhyme and reason
Mean it’s open season
Good, clean, dangerous and fun

Cos we’re one and the same...
Track Name: Forgive Me
Forgive Me

Time after time seen the sweet dream die
Like the rhyme says, I’m running from myself
So I signed on the line for the big wheel ride
Someone told me, you leave to weave your spell

As the seasons arrive, so the tree stays alive
Got the feeling I’m running after you
But if we take the time,
Solitaire, valentine
So you see it’s true, I’ve learned a thing or two

Forgive me reason,
Forgive me things that I’ve done
Forgive me all the lonely peace of mind
I thought I should have won

Forgive me feelings
Forgive the weakness that I’ve shown
Forgive me all the times I’ve robbed you blind
And left you far behind / on your own

Crazy and kind, seems I’m losing my mind
For the crimes of love I’m paying with my health
For that carousel, rides through heaven, rides through hell
If a thing’s worth doing, a thing’s worth doing well

With the turn of the tide, turns your darkness to light,
And the sweetness of your loving will return
And then when, worlds collide, leave your heart to be your guide
And believe that you have better things to do

Don’t deny me,
Cos I’m coming back for more,
Now that’s for sure

Buttered skies and June disguised
The many things that we forgot to,
Save, for another day

Forgive me, for the things I know I've done,
When I thought I should have won,
Forgive me...
Track Name: Ordinary Way
Roadway up on your side o’the county
Roll away the bridges, burn the hay
Multiply the blood line
Hide out in your solitary way

Quantify your terms and bounty
I believe the ceiling’s low
Wonder why the wild one
Suffers in your momentary pain

Right time of the year
Waiting for the choir of angels
Scrambled coming here
Hate to think that I’m just killing time
You say something here
Reminds you of a kind of veil of tears
Your soul, you say, in your ordinary way

Woe betide your sleepless counting
You’re beside yourself again
Treat me like the child, and
Hope against all hope you cannot fail

High time of the year
Waiting for the choir of angels
Scrambled coming here
Hate to think that I’m just killing time
You say something here
Reminds you of a kind of veil of tears
Your soul, you say, in your ordinary way

Second guessing what you’re missing,
Oh, you never can tell
Bruising gently, heaven sent me,
No, the fires of hell, well you never can tell…

You’ve been selling songs from your window
Did you ever tame that stony ground?
Craven or mistaken
Dreaming of the loss you’ve never found

I’ve been waiting here
Feels like nigh-on half a million years
Scrambled coming here
Hate to think that I’m just killing time
You say something here
Reminds you of a kind of veil of tears
Your soul, you say, in your ordinary way
Track Name: I'm a Fool
I’m a Fool

I’m a fool to love you
I feel I’m getting deeper every day
Oh, I’m a fool to love you
But it’s easier to find that out
The hard way

The King of Cool is
Not my middle name
But your careless words
They’ve been driving me insane
But I know, I know you care for me
Only got myself to blame
As I see you go, I hear myself complain

When it’s all, said and done
And the winner hasn’t won
It’s experience that tells you
You’ve turned pleasure into pain

And when you’re climbing up the wall
Ever higher, bound to fall
There’s a truth that’s hurt
Your foolish heart again

I’m a fool to love you
Feel I’m getting deeper every day
Oh, I’m a fool to love you
But it seems I’ve got to find that out
The hard way
Cos it’s easier to find that out
The hard way
Track Name: Bad
BAD

Father McKane, can you tell me something
Like a brother to me, just another to you
Turning amateur wit, and
Sunday coming down
Could you take me by the hand
Cos I am safe while sleeping

Fooling around, and telling us one thing
A table for three, for two of a kind
Simple to see,
Enjoy it while you can
But it’s always goodwill hunting
And that’s not my master plan

Because it’s bad, bad, bad
It’s not my promised land
And cos it’s sad, sad, sad, you’ve got to understand
Because my, heart is breaking,
Let it in and let it out
That’s what it’s all about

Simpleton Steve, are you telling me something
You’re out of your brain, you’re out of the blue
At the top of the tree, it’s there for you and me
Now he’s kissed me on the hand
And yes, he wants to join the band

But it’s too bad, bad, bad
You’ve read between the lines
Because it’s bad, bad, bad
Your devil in disguise
Because the times are changing
Let it in and let it out
That’s what it’s all about

Everybody tries to pick a stranger by that something in their eyes
I don’t find a danger, I can change it, or arrange it in the stars...
Track Name: It Will Come to Pass
It Will Come to Pass

You’ll bring silence
I’ll bring gold, on
Your connivance
I’ll be counting because,

Hesitating, it’s my intention
You’re slowly fading, and not to mention
It’s my belief that,
It will come to pass

Out of sequence
Made to measure
I don’t mind that
It’s a leisure of love

Oh, you ain’t changed
As I turn my face to the wind and rain
Keep on coming back for more

More than a game
As you take your turn
Now you started leaving
You’re on your hands and knees

Calm and quiet
In my time zone
See how you’ve grown
Slowly holding above

Hesitating, it’s my intention
You’re slowly fading, and not to mention
It’s my belief that,
It will come to pass
Track Name: Too Far Gone
Too Far Gone

Well it’s nice you left the mirror, on the wall you found delight
And you know the way you’re feeling is what makes me feel alright
So that, if the way you really think is, what you really mean

You’re too far gone, you’re too far gone

Well it’s nice she left her number on the mantelpiece tonight
Well there’s no, forgiving my concern, in this fool’s paradise
So if I could leave without you seeing
Shadows on the sun,

You’re too far gone, you’re too far gone
You’re too far gone, you’re too far gone

Well you know that, I blame you
You always seem to fall apart again
And then, you know, it’s so unseemly,
Go, again, and you won’t see me

Well your keys are on the table, and your coat’s still in the hall
But the things that used to mean so much mean,
- Nothing more at all -
For you unknown, and me alone
The writing’s on the wall,

You’re too far gone, you’re too far gone
You’re too far gone, you’re too far gone
You’re too far gone, you’re too far gone
Track Name: Little Bit
Little Bit

A little bit, little bit, little bit of your love
Can wipe away that pain
Erase the feeling of “we don’t like it”
A little bit, little bit, little bit of your love
In body, soul and mind
Enough to find
When I need “inspiration”

Some of the things I’ve got to say’ll make you happy,
Some will make you sad
Wouldn’t be worth just any Tom, Dick or Harry
It’s the best thing, that I’ve ever had, you know

A-hey, hey, hey,
Your irresistible love shines down on me

A little bit, little bit, little bit of your love
We’ll never know your names
But on this evidence “now we like you”
A little bit, little bit, little bit of your love
Can fizz me like champagne
From heart to brain
A feeling of “now we’ve started”

Some of the things I’ve got to say are short and snappy
Some are really bad
But we can help you with the load you’ve got to carry
And we’ll play the clown as we live your fantasy

I’d like the time to carry on, but we’re
Here for the taking, got no mind to move along
But like bread is to the baker, like the cobbles on your shoes
We’re here to take your money and we’re here to take your….
